Rovada
Red or white currant
Blooms in the same window. Zone fit is unknown or not a major tie-breaker here.
Why choose this?
Rovada is lightly sweet with a definite tart edge, with juicy flesh with moderate firmness and large fruit. In this group, it is one of the firmest choices, so it handles baking, slicing, or holding its shape better. Choose it for fresh eating, juice, jelly, and late-season red currant harvests with the best flavor, but skip it if you want early crops or a smaller compact bush. It usually ripens around early August, later than most of the others shown.
