Pea and Bean Weevil
A small grey-brown weevil 4 - 5 mm long that grazes distinctive U-shaped notches from the leaf margins of peas and broad beans in spring.
Symptoms to Look For
- U-shaped or scalloped notches cut from leaf edges of pea or bean seedlings
- Small grey-brown weevils found on leaves when inspected closely
- Seedlings weakened or growth temporarily checked in severe infestations

Sow into warm, fertile, well-prepared soil so plants establish vigour quickly and grow away from weevil damage.

Prevention
- Damage from adult feeding is rarely severe on established plants - the main risk is to very small seedlings
